Last Friday, Shahed Sakandari, an 18-year-old refugee from Afghanistan, presented his autobiographical book ‘The Long Wait of Shahed’ in the Utopia Hall of the Library in Drunen. Together with his grandmother Laheqa Nourzada, he wrote this moving story about his childhood, filled with threats and violence. The book offers a personal insight into the difficult journey that Shahed and his family had to undertake to build a safe life in the Netherlands. Interesting fact: Shahed only arrived in the Netherlands in 2018 at the age of 11, and was reunited with his parents three years later.

Vendredi dernier, Shahed Sakandari, un réfugié afghan âgé de 18 ans, a présenté son livre autobiographique intitulé ‘L’attente interminable de Shahed’ dans la salle Utopia de la bibliothèque de Drunen. Il a écrit ce récit poignant avec sa grand-mère, Laheqa Nourzada, qui raconte ses années d’enfance, marquées par des menaces et des actes de violence. Le livre offre un regard personnel sur le parcours difficile que Shahed et sa famille ont dû entreprendre pour construire une vie sûre aux Pays-Bas. Un fait intéressant : Shahed n’est arrivé aux Pays-Bas qu’en 2018, à l’âge de 11 ans, et n’a été réuni avec ses parents que trois ans plus tard.

Laatst vrijdag presenteerde Shahed Sakandari, een 18-jarige vluchteling uit Afghanistan, zijn autobiografische boek ‘Het lange wachten van Shahed’ in de Utopiazaal van de Bibliotheek in Drunen. Samen met zijn oma Laheqa Nourzada schreef hij dit aangrijpende verhaal over zijn kinderjaren, gevuld met bedreigingen en geweld. Het boek biedt een persoonlijk inzicht in de moeilijke reis die Shahed en zijn familie hebben moeten maken om een veilig leven in Nederland op te bouwen. Interessante feit: Shahed arriveerde pas in 2018 in Nederland, op 11-jarige leeftijd, en werd pas drie jaar later herenigd met zijn ouders.
