Webinar Explores Ethical Challenges of Generative AI in Government
The RijksAcademie is organising a webinar to discuss the ethical implications of generative AI in government organisations. Experts will explain how this technology can be responsibly deployed, focusing on integrity and transparency. The event forms the first part of a series that provides insight into the complex issues surrounding AI applications in the public sector [1].
Ethical Dilemmas and Organisational Culture
The first webinar, titled ‘Ethical Compass for Using GenAI’, will take place on 27 October from 15:00 to 16:00. Host Lykle de Vries will lead the discussion with Daniël Tijink, programme leader for Ethics and member of the Management Team of the ECP Platform for the Information Society, and Joris Krijger, a technology philosopher and one of the first official AI ethicists in the Netherlands [1]. Daniël will explain Guiding Ethics, an approach to discussing ethical issues of new technologies, and Joris will highlight the societal implications of AI in the public sector [1].
Objective and Target Audience
After the webinar, participants will better understand the ethical issues involved in using generative AI and how to deploy it thoughtfully and responsibly [1]. The webinar is aimed at employees of municipalities, provinces, water boards, and the national government who wish to learn more about the ethical aspects of AI applications [1].
